Dude, where's my car?!

After the teams short hop across the continent the next challenge was taking on the car rental booth!  The straight forward process was straight forward right up until the critical moment of being told where to collect the car from, at which point a tired and weary JP brain drew a blank and stopped taking in information other than "red flags" and "nova".  The scene for the next half an hour was set.

Jamie and Alex circumnavigated the front of Arrivals Terminal at Split airport on the hunt for the elusive red flags.  After speaking to a range of local car hire experts in broken English with an even more impressive range of directions the car was found, the finest, most abused and battle scarred red VW Golf Croatia had to offer was ours!

Through the 292km drive up to Smrika we saw worse rain than most have seen in weeks, saying a lot for a team of Scots, fortunately the weather broke and the further North we got the better the weather got, making for the first opportunity to break the drone out!  Senj Valley offered the views that we'd been promised!

Tomorrow we head over the Islands towards Mali Losinj where we will meet mode of transport number 3 (what could it be...?)  but before that we take forwards some lessons of the day:

  • When people offer directions - listen

  • On Croatians roads the speed signs are only advisory for locals

  • At junctions just go

  • Lidl alcohol isn't to be knocked
