Thunderstruck

Our last update was posted a day late once we got internet again, and finished up the night of Wednesday 4th. So to fix/complete the timeline we pick up the morning of Thursday 5th:

We set off late after a long lie, and headed back out to sea for a leisurely sail in light winds (7-10 kn) around the island of Susak. After crafting a pizza like lunch out of some unusual Croatian bread, we we resorted to faffing around with our own photo shoot on the boat, where I appear to have misplaced my head whilst Miss Cooke tried to push me overboard!

Returning towards the mainland we anchored up in the same spot as we spent our first night. Scott rustled up a pasta dinner whilst Alex and Shaunagh set about winching me up the mast - no easy task- before cracking out the quad copter for some more arial photography.

As we were preparing to turn in for the night, thunder began to rumble and as it turned dark we could see lightning off in the distance, however it appeared to be passing us by so we headed below deck to get some kip. We were all awoken at 5am by flashes streaming through the portholes as the lightning returned, and counting the time between flash and thunder the closest strike could only have been a few hundred meters away!

After a rather sleepless night, we slept late into Friday morning and went for a short voyage to a nice lagoon-like spot to drop anchor, pap out the lilos and go for an afternoon swim. We headed back to the Marina early so that we could attempt to moor up before it got busy and there were more people to watch us attempting to moor!

Having completed an (almost) flawless mooring, we packed most of our belongings and went out for dinner. We enjoyed a few drinks on the deck before turning in ready to hand back the boat early Saturday morning.

Saturday brought a 7 hour drive from Mali Losinj to our next AirBnB just outside Split, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. During dinner we got caught up in the excitement of Croatia winning against Russia in the World Cup and progressing on to the next stage where they will be playing against...England! That'll be an exciting one on Wednesday...
